Drama skills for Year 10 students

This is an opportunity for pupils who are taking GCSE Drama in the next academic year(s) to prepare for their examination. The day focuses on creative, practical strategies for performance and written examinations and encompasses:

  • Active, enjoyable exercises for exploring performance texts
  • Foolproof methods for generating top-band devised material
  • Exploring new approaches to creating portfolios, logs and working notebooks, including audio-visual logs
  • Practical exercises for memorising, analysing and writing about live theatre
  • Examination and revision tips for excellent results

Criteria for identifying participants:

Pupils should be due to take their Drama GCSE this or next year and wish to improve their outcomes.

Stephen Pritchard, MA Oxon, PGCE Bristol, FRSA, has 26 years' experience of producing top-band practical work at GCSE and A-level and his students’ work has frequently been used as exemplars of excellence for schools. Prior to becoming the Director of Drama at Colston’s School, Stephen worked in the performing arts: as a co-founder of WOMAD, the world music festival; with a national dance company; writing, directing and performing for community theatre. He has led Drama workshops in many countries, for young and mature students. Stephen is also the Drama Consultant for Pumpkin Interactive and has produced best-selling DVDs on devising, physical theatre, ensemble building, comedy, getting into drama school, Artaud and Grotowski.
