Meeting the challenges of the new Drama GCSE through creative, practical and active approaches - Teacher CPD

Drama is a subject that champions active learning and the new GCSE syllabuses, with their emphasis on more written content, need not diminish the use or impact of practical, dynamic methods for learning and teaching. This CPD workshop for teachers will offer:

  • Effective, active methods for working with plays for written examination and performance
  • Foolproof exercises and strategies for working with stimuli for devising
  • Methods for creating an imaginative and productive environment for successful devising work
  • Exploring different approaches to creating portfolios, logs and working notebooks, including audio-visual logs
  • How to develop successful design and technical projects for devised and scripted work
  • Active methods to inspire students to engage with live theatre and active strategies to deepen their analytical responses in discussion and writing

Teachers’ notes and DVDs to complement the exercises and techniques will be available at the end of the workshop.
